The world’s wonder.
We drive to Magelang district to visit the Borobudur temple. It is the largest Buddhist monument in the world and one of the seven wonders. We will observe the hundreds and centuries-old Buddha statues and see dozens of Buddhists come to preach from all over the world.
Borobudur comprises of many stupas and is nine floors high. The biggest stupa is on top of the temple is a symbol for Nirvana (the highest state a human being can reach in Buddhism). The stupas underneath it represent the path a Buddhist has to take to reach Nirvana.
Historically, it was made during the relatively brief Shailendra dynasty of Central Java between 778 and 856 BC. It is under constant restoration due to the breaks that the tremors of the neighbouring Merapi volcano have produced during its history. After visiting Borobudur, you will continue the trip to Mendut and Pawon temple. They are also Buddhist temples.
Village tour on a horse-car.
After that, you will visit Candirejo village by andong (traditional transport with horse and carriage) about 3 KM from Borobudur. Candirejo is a traditional village where ancient traditions are still followed. The village is best known for how it has maintained their original traditions. The word “Candi” means stones or rocks, while “Rejo” means fertile, therefore Candirejo means a fertile rocky village.
The village sits amidst lush green fields and tropical rain forests, and is home to friendly people. Locals would say that Candirejo is a symbol of Javanese culture where visitors can experience and participate in a variety of cultural attractions and activities.
